Dip Phys, MHSc, PhD
Suzie is a neuro physiotherapist who completed a Masters of Health Science (MHSc) in 1999 at AUT University and a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in 2009 at the University of Auckland. Suzie has a longstanding interest in gait, particularly in the area of walking performance in the real world (her PhD topic), however has many other clinical and research interests as well. Suzie is also involved in the organisation and teaching of a number of clinical courses in the field of neuro rehabilitation.
Suzie has many clinical interests and has particular expertise in the retraining of walking and balance for patients with stroke, spinal cord injury and brain injury. She also has considerable experience in the use of functional electrical stimulation and body weight supported treadmill training. Suzie also has training and experience in vestibular rehabilitation. Suzie is passionate about continuing to work towards improved health outcomes for patients, so is involved in ongoing learning, teaching and research.
Suzie is on the board of trustees of Mobility Dogs, an organisation training assistance dogs for people with physical disabilities. She is also involved with the functional assessments to assist streamlining the training of the dogs to meet recipient’s specific functional needs.
Suzie is the director of Neuro Rehab Results, so as well as a clinical caseload, she is involved in the daily management of the practice.
