Why do we need this class?
Exercise has lots of benefits for your health. Exercise makes you stronger and fitter and helps to manage or prevent many health conditions. It also contributes to improving the way we do many functional activities, like standing up or walking. Exercise is also known to have benefits for your mental wellbeing as well.
There are lots of options for exercise like joining a gym or going for a regular walk. Exercising on your own can sometimes be hard if you need exercises to be adapted, you require some assistance or if you like someone to spur you on
So we have designed ActivEx to:
- Improve your fitness
- Improve your upper and lower body strength
- Improve your flexibility
- Be a supportive and safe environment for you to exercise.
How does ActivEx work?
ActivEx is a course of six classes. Each class consists of some work done together as a group and the other part of the class will run as a circuit. You can sit for many of the stations and there will be a few stations where you can stand and challenge your balance. The class will run for one hour in total. We are able to make exercises harder or easier, depending on the level you need.
When does it start?
ActivEx is a new course that started in May 2017. Our current course will end on 17 April, 2018 and the next class will start on 1 May 2018. Each class will run from 11am to 12pm. You can come to as many courses as you would like.
How much will it cost?
The cost of a six-week block exercise classes is $80. If you don’t want to commit to six weeks, then individual classes cost $20 each.
What is the first step?
Before you start the exercise class, you need to make an appointment for a brief screening session, which is free. This session will take about 30 minutes with a physiotherapist who will run through some brief physical tests with you and talk about which classes will best suit your needs. You can schedule this appointment by calling our clinic on 480 6464. When you book this session, we will send some questionnaires to you for you to fill out and bring to the session.
